I don’t understand why people are leaping about and crowing that Salinger’s work and/or mythos are overrated. Or maybe I do understand, and that’s why it makes me so sad.
He wrote things that people, including me, loved reading. Then he stopped, because that was what he wanted to do, and I like to imagine that that made him happy.

The National’s next album is coming out on 4AD.
I don’t know how I am going to cope with such a convergence of awesomenesses. I can only dream of the kind of cross-pollination that could theoretically occur.

onward and upward
Last year I had trouble listening to new music and saw a total of one live band in the entire year.
It’s morning on the third day of 2010 and I’ve listened to over half a dozen new-to-me albums, most of them by bands I’ve never even heard of before, and last night I saw Kaki King supported by Pikelet.
I also feel like I might start taking pictures of all the delicious food...
